About Indigo Rose Home Living

One quiet afternoon, my husband and I were walking through Kiama — something we’ve always loved to do — when we passed The Terraces, a row of historic homes built in 1885. These buildings were once the heart of Kiama’s quarrying days, where workers would return home to their families after long days of hard labour. But as we walked past them, I felt sadness. The buildings were crumbling — broken fences, peeling paint, water damage. I turned to my husband and said, “Someone just needs to love them again.”

And he said, “Why don’t you?”

At the bottom of the hill, the last terrace caught my eye. There was something about it — even in its tired state — that felt full of potential. We looked at each other, and in that moment, I knew this was something I had to do.

Restoring a heritage building is no easy task. It took months of navigating State Heritage approvals, council meetings, and body corporate rules. The inside was so damaged I fell through the floor three times during renovations. But every challenge just deepened my love for the place. These are the last remaining wooden terrace houses in all of New South Wales — and I felt honoured to bring warmth and care back into one of them.

So, with no retail experience but a deep love for creating beautiful spaces, I opened a store. My husband believed in me every step of the way. “You can do it,” he kept saying. “Everyone loves what you do.” That encouragement helped me take the leap — and Indigo Rose Home Living was born.

Today, every piece in the shop is chosen with care. If I wouldn’t have it in my own home, it won’t be in the store. Styling and curating is how I express myself. I love quality — not just in the products, but in the experience customers receive. I take the time to know my pieces, and I’m always here to help.

When you visit Indigo Rose — whether in-store or online — I want you to feel one thing: At home. Calm, relaxed, and happy.

This shop is shaped by the beauty of Kiama and the warmth of its people. It's a place where nature, history, and thoughtful design come together.

A Street Lined with Beauty

Each November, something magical happens just outside our shop — the Jacaranda trees burst into bloom, turning the footpath into a carpet of soft purple.

It’s one of those fleeting, special moments that remind us to slow down and take in the beauty around us — the same feeling we hope you’ll find inside Indigo Rose.

Before the Magic

When we first stepped inside this space, it was full of rough edges and years of wear — but we saw the potential.

Restoring a heritage-listed building was no small task, but every step brought us closer to creating something beautiful. We kept the original bones and filled it with warmth, intention, and heart.

Restoring the Past

I spent days sanding back the original panelling, revealing the beautiful line work hidden beneath years of paint and damage.

It wasn’t easy, but this process reminded me of what Indigo Rose stands for — finding the beauty beneath the surface and bringing it back to life, piece by piece.

"We purchased a few pieces of artwork and Rose was incredibly helpful. She guided us on where and how to hang them and was so friendly. We will definitely be back again. Thanks Rose!"

"Not your average homewares store, this place has all kinds of unique products to inspire the home decorator. It's full of the kinds of things you don't see in those run of the mill-type shops that Kiama is now renowned for. So refreshing!"
